Theoretical Foundations

With the aim of becoming the best Adult Learning Facilitator that I could, I enrolled in the Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Adult Education and Training (AET)program at Colorado State University. My goal was to enhance my knowledge and skills by learning a variety of techniques and best practices to add to my repertoire for instructing adults.
Throughout my AET journey, I certainly met my goal stated above. What I gained however, was much more. My initial focus was on learning the how and the what of good teaching. What I gained was an even more valuable tool which is knowing the why behind the what and the how of teaching.
Through my coursework, readings, assignments, and reflections I soon realized that it is not only important to know what activities and methods to include but also how to introduce and utilize them and more importantly, why.
Throughout the Theoretical Foundations section, you will be able to view the books, scholars and theories that have shaped how I design and facilitate instruction as well as who I am as an Adult Learning Facilitator.
